Key Stage 2 Curriculum
Key Stage 2 is the largest of the key stages in the National Curriculum and spans years 3 to 6 (ages 7 to 11). During this period pupils make a large amount of progress which is normally assessed by statutory testing in English and maths at the end of Year 6. Due to the Covid pandemic these did not take place in 2020 and 2021.
At St Mary's, Key Stage 2 pupils are organised across Chestnut, Sycamore and Oak Classes. Chestnut has a stand alone, one year curriculum covering Year 3, whilst pupils in Sycamore and Oak Classes follow a 3 year rolling cycle of learning in the foundation subjects. All our Key Stage 2 classes learn the full range of the subjects within the National Curriculum 2014 which includes French as a modern foreign language.
