3rd July 2020 - a Bible Bedtime Story about Truth

Rev Nick has shared this story from the Old Testament about 2 brothers.....https://photos.app.goo.gl/orWdUXvENN5V68jC8

'I am the light of the world' John 8:12

Do you remember who said this?    It was Jesus.

So we will gather in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit to consider the Christian Value of Truth.

Before people give evidence in a court of law, they are asked to place a hand on the Bible and say, 'I promise before Almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.'  This means they won't repeat gossip, miss things out or exaggerate things.

This is important because the truth spoken in the courtroom helps shine a light on a dark story and find out what really happened.  Telling the truth helps us to 'shine a light' in the world.

Have you ever not told the truth about something?  Or added extra information to make something sound better?  Or missed parts of a story out on purpose?

Mrs Kennedy updates this page regularly with lots of ideas for children to think about and do at home:

What is truth?

Trustworth words and actions

Respect for doing the right thing

Uncovering the full picture

Telling it as it is

Having all the facts

What do you think TRUTH means?  Could you make up a TRUTH acrostic?

Telling the truth is an important rule in games like, 'Happy Families' or 'Go Fish'.  Have a go at playing either of these game with the rule that people are allowed to tell lies.  When you have finished playing discuss how you all felt in the game.  Does it work when people are allowed to tell lies?

Lord Jesus Light of the World,

Help us to shine as lights,

To be truthful and open in all we do.
