Our Christian Ethos

A Church of England School

Our 'traditional values, rooted in Christian faith' lie at the heart of our vision for our learners.  In designing our intended curriculum we have considered the 4 aspects of the Church of England's Vision for Education 2016  (Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity).

We have strong links with the church of St Mary the Virgin, Boston Spa and regularly visit for services.  Rev. Nick Morgan (priest in charge) and his team also take Collective Worship in school on a weekly basis.

A daily act of collective worship is required by law in all maintained schools in England and Wales.  As a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School, we use our collective worship time to introduce pupils to some beliefs and practices of the Anglican faith and to provide them with opportunities for reflection on 'big questions' around our core aim of Love, Respect and Moral Understanding and our 12 Christian Values.

We aim for our collective worship to be inclusive and inspirational for pupils of all faiths and none, however parents and carers who do not wish their child to participate in Collective Worship should contact the head teacher.
