Key information
Our class P.E. days are Wednesdays and Thursdays
Please come in your P.E. kit on these days.
We regularly add home learning tasks and information to seesaw so please check weekly.
Please ensure that reading books are in bags everyday so adults in school can read with the children. Reading books are changed weekly - this means that children have the opportunity to reread their book at least 3 times. This helps to improve fluency and comprehension skills.

This week in Willow
We have been on a fantastic trip to Abbey House Museum this week. We spent the morning exploring the museum and participating in a workshop all about old and new toys. We talked about the materials toys were made from, how they worked and we even had the opportunity to play with some old toys. During the workshop some of our friends dressed up as Victorian children and we found out about how they grew up in Victorian times. We then went over to Kirkstall Abbey for our lunch. We enjoyed eating our packed lunches while we talked to our friends. After lunch we did some sports activities on the grass. It was lovely to have a run around in the sunshine! A super day was had by all!
Spring 2 Week 5
Over the last few weeks we have been thinking about Easter. We started our learning with a spring walk around school looking for signs of new life. In the classroom, we learnt all about what happened during the week of Easter from Palm Sunday until the Resurrection on the following Sunday. We reflected on the happy and sad parts of the Easter story.
During the week we were lucky enough to take part in some food tasting. We talked about the symbolism and history of eating pancakes, hot cross buns and chocolate eggs at Easter time. It was a very delicious lesson! Today we finished our Easter activities with bunny races, making Easter cards and a chocolate egg hunt.
Willow Class would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter!
Spring 2 Week 3
We have been building houses! First of all we had a think about what we wanted to make. Would it be a small, private building like a den or something grand and glorious like a castle? Would it be a fantastical house on stilts or treehouse? Would it have an inside? An outside area? An upstairs or a roof which comes off?
The children were given white and coloured card, scissors, tape, pens, and lolly sticks and their own imaginations!
We have also been raising money for Red Nose Day by dressing in red and completing a nose and spoon obstacle course.
Spring 2 Week 1
This week we have been celebrating World Book Day and we had some fantastic costumes from Hagrid and Harry Potter to the Scarecrow bride and Zog.
We had a surprise when we came in to school. All our chairs had gone on strike! Just like the crayons in the book ‘The day the crayons quit’ by Drew Daywalt. Our chairs were tired of being pushed around and dragged about and not being tucked under the table. We decided we needed to write a letter to the chairs to apologise for the way they had been treated. The children came up with some brilliant ideas that we brought together to write a letter of apology to the chairs. Our chairs must have liked our letter as they were safely back in their places by the end of the day.
