PREVIOUS EVENTS
Morrisons Bag Packing
On 1 November Morrisons supermarket in Wetherby gave Friends of St Mary’s the opportunity to spend a day helping customers with bag packing in return for holding a collection in the store. We had lots of volunteers and both parents and children worked very hard throughout the day. We raised over £1000 which will go towards a foldaway stage for the school. We also collected a substantial amount of Morrisons gardening vouchers which will be put to good use for the school grounds
Football/Rounders and Family Fiesta
On Saturday 12 July, after a very successful Health and Sports week at school, the Friends of St Mary's put on a fun, family afternoon of football and rounders. The year one dads challenged all dads, grandads, uncles etc to 'beat the Saturday coaches' in a football tournament. There were also games of rounders, expecially for mums and kids. This was followed by a Family Fiesta, a chance for families and friends of St Mary's to get together for a sociable evening. It was also a good opportunity for families with children starting Reception in September to come along and meet everyone and get a flavour of the school community outside school hours. There was music, food and a bar and various activities for children and adults. The Mad Science show was a big hit with the children and the famous egg throwing competition rounded off the evening. A great end to the school year.
The Friends ran a strawberries and cream stall at the Gala and entertained the children with face painting. Both activities were very successful, raising £196 .
