Cober HillCober Hill 2010

17:00 - 14th June 2010

Everyone has arrived safely and the children's safety briefing is complete.  Off for a stroll to a local cove.  How lovely to be so close to the sea!

08:00 - 15th June 2010

After a good night's sleep we're off to the coast and a place that has a rocky beach.  With the sun shining, everyone has their sunscreen on.  The birdsong should be impressive and we expect to see Skylarks and Oyster Catchers as we take in the delights of the East Coast.

08:00 - 16th June 2010

The youngsters enjoyed a treasure hunt last night before supper and a good night's sleep.  Yesterday's trip to Hayburn Wyke was a delight and joy and we expect today's outing to be great fun in a different way.  We're hoping to see round a lifeboat and investigate some of the local fishing industry today.  There will also be time to admire the building skills of earlier times as we head for one of the nearby castles.  I feel tired just writing about it!

08:00 - 17th June 2010

What fantastic weather! and what a great time we had yesterday in Scarborough.  Last night went well and we're all refreshed for today's activity.  We're going on quite a long walk and then stepping right back in time as we look for fossils.  The local sandstone gets eroded by the sea, exposing fossils from the Jurassic period.  Ammonites are relatively common and with any luck we'll find a complete specimen.

08:00 - 18th June 2010

We had a fabulous day yesterday.  The weather was beautiful.   We drove to Ravenscar and walked down to the brick and alum works, then a long walk uphill, across the golf course and down to the fossil beach.  Saw seals!  We collected rocks and walked back up the hill to the mini bus.  The children were very tired when we got back.

Today it's raining, but the children are in good spirits.  We expect to be back around 3pm.  (There may be a further update as the day progresses.)
