Sports Grant

The government have provided additional funding  to improve provision of physical education (P.E.) and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. Our revised total allocation last year was £8,640.

The grant must be spent on improving the provision of  P.E and sport for the benefit of pupils so they develop healthy and active lifestyles.

To ensure a long-lasting impact, we have researched how best to spend the current funding and have decided to spend it to:-

  1. Continue to provide quality CPD to ensure staff can maintain and improve upon the high standards in PE lessons.
  2. Appoint a PE Apprentice to support the delivery of PE lessons and provide structured play opportunities at lunchtime.
  3. Continue to develop the role of pupil games leaders.
  4. Ensure appropriate P.E Equipment is available to support curriculum delivery.
  5. Increase the participation in competitions this year both intra-school and inter-school.

Impact of Sports Premium Funding:

  1. School is developing a sustainable system which is providing expertise across a range of physical skills.
  2. School can identify groups requiring additional support and therefore meets the needs of all pupils within an inclusive curriculum.
  3. Pupils take ownership of planning, organising and running a variety of lunchtime activities that help to engage children who sometimes find participating in the more traditional sports challenging. Pupil self esteem is thus enhanced.
  4. School provides high quality resources/P.E equipment, which is regularly checked and replenished, to use in lessons to inspire and stimulate pupils. This equipment is also used in clubs and at lunch time which is regularly checked and replenished.
  5. School has termly intra-school competitions for all children and have developed more opportunities to enter inter-school competitions in different sports.
